May 02 Civil rights ?My answer to the following Quote, "As a woman who grew up in the sixties and seventies and is use to stuffing envelopes and marching for women’s rights, civil rights and against the Vietnam War I have long asked where are the people? Why aren’t the streets full of Americans marching to regain their civil rights? Or perhaps marching against the two party system? The list goes on and on." Your question "where are the people?" is hard to understand unless you can not see that the large Marjory of the people work for a living. They have to have a check coming in to pay for food and house and toys for their kids on Christmas.Unlike the movie world and the TV soap operas where no one works and no one talks about money{heaven forbid}the rest of us had to pay for that TV and the popcorn at the movies. Even then there was unemployment and on the job we would be reminded about how many of them were at the gate waiting for our jobs.I belonged to the Teamsters union and still I would be fired for missing to many days at work. The silent majority as we were called could not justify losing a job so as to go march in the streets and parity all night long.Since the 1970's lots of changes have been made, and today its very obvious they are not the right ones. The people were working and watching you march in the streets on TV. At work and the barber shops we were laughing at you and wondering how the heck you could get by with out having a job. Most of us still believed that we could write our congressman and vote to get the problems solved in the country.BUT you won and the ones who made the news started telling us how bad we were and if we changed every thing it would be a better country. Now 40 years later after all the new changes and the schools, hospitals, health care ,wages gone down, jobs gone to illegal aliens,Criminals marching in the streets for the same rights I have ???,13 year olds getting PG and cant name the daddy and everyone blaming the other guy for causing this to happen,DID it get better??DID all of it work.As you see the list does go on and on. This is a nation of laws and we the born in this country and the ones brave enough to come here legally ,need enforcing of those laws. We need the judges, police, mayors, sheriffs, school officials, congressmen and senators and a president that will uphold the oaths they took to support the rights of the people and uphold the rule of law of the land. I am an American who at 64 has spent my life following the law and the rules and have the American dream to live in and its all paid for and i am retired and proud to have served my country and put my life on the line for my country and my family and neighbors. regain their civil rights I have not lost any civil rights,I am able to talk to my neighbors in the café and the store and set outside of walmart discussing nearly every subject that comes to mind. And still as my father did ,we have heated topics as we get our hair cut.I have a driver License and tags on the three vehicles.Own my house and the land it sets on.I am able to travel and get my passport .I am able to vote and serve on jury's and can read the newspaper. My two phone lines may have TAPS on them but since I am not a criminal I could care less, cause most of my jokes are old and worn out anyway.I drink red wine with meals and my cholesterol levels are at 97 .No DUI's and one ticket for speeding over 40 years ago when I was young. When I am in my yard setting in the lawn chair and you drive by I waive and do not think you are a criminal and invading my privacy.I can go get a job if they hire me at my age and my SS number is the same as when I was 16.I drove a school bus for 6 years and still have all my papers to prove who I am and where I was born and at last check all my rights. I can not think of any rights I have lost except to smoke in a café with a product that is still sold and tax's collected on it and is legal. The right to carry a pistol was lost for awhile but it has been given back to us but the state of Arkansas. The civil rights movement was in the 1960's and I don't know if you know this they won their rights and that gave more rights to more Americans. You may be talking about the Womens rights movement and I am sorry you lost it or the 3% of the population that is in jail or the 20,000,000 illegal aliens in the country when you say lost their rights{never thought they had any???}.The Christin's burning abortion clients and shooting Doctors did not help their right to do so.If you are supporting Gays rights well most of us believe its a sick person and not a race of people ,so do not call me a bigot in your defense of them. The 90% of us that live every day abiding by the law , working , worrying about our kids, paying Tax's and taking care of our own business have not lost any rights.Last of all I still have the right to be loyal to my country and its elected leaders and believe in the Constitution to protect my kids and my self and you. I was banned from MSNBC speak out ,for saying the above. My freedom to disagree with them was taken away, but I still serve on jury's and I am registered to vote since 1960.I still fire off letters and Email to my congressmen and senators and state legislator's and the president of the USA and they have not banned me yet ,thou my letters may be filed in the trash can. I am only 1 of 180 million who will vote in 2008. So I am all for a change in the people who represent us the American people ,that would benefit and protect our children,my neighbors ,and the country.BUT If it is to change the government just for the few protesters in the streets are to help criminals and people who get rich on such schemes then I cannot support the idea that only criminals can win in America.
